We lay on the driveway and chatted about silly things. It felt like a sleepover from elementary school only better because we didn’t have to go to bed early and mom never told us to quiet down.

My son walked into my bedroom to ask me something and absolutely everything shifted. I had been focusing on one specific visual and as soon as he walked into the room the colors of my visual changed and the shapes changed.

The whole time I had been blaming the dryer when in fact there was nothing wrong with the dryer at all. I had jumped through hoops trying to get the dryer to function better, only to realize that the dryer was perfectly fine and the issue was that the washer wasn’t doing its part of co-creating clean laundry.

Sometimes, I think about my parents and I wonder to myself. “How the fuck did you sign up to parent this?”

You see, it doesn’t work like that. If you want to build strength it needs to come from within you. Your body must do the work to build strength. Me doing the work for you will not actually create additional muscle strength. I literally can’t build the strength for you.

Today, I was walking my woods loop backwards. I knew that I was stuck on something and I needed to see it from a different viewpoint. So, I walked my loop backwards knowing that it would force my brain to look at the issue differently.

I say in almost every workshop where I am presenting that nature is a core part of my psychic hygiene practice, yet in a single sentence he boiled it down to an incredibly clear message. Nature is like coffee for your soul.

I learned lifetimes ago to work with the natural flow of the earth and my body. I learned to ebb and flow like the tides of the ocean, listening to and responding to the pull of the moon.

Before he could respond I had a moment to reflect on my response. He would NEVER do this to me. If I asked him to do something with or for me he would absolutely never try to convince me that I needed something different.

It was a funny interaction that stuck with me. How many times in life do we fake something or do something poorly? How often do we just keep moving on unless we are called out on it?
