Tree Support

Have you ever met a tree who offered support, shelter, nourishment, and protection to other trees?

Have you ever seen a tree that allows other trees to grow underneath it? The tree offers protection from harsh winds while the younger tree establishes roots and grounds itself. Eventually, the young trees won’t need protection, but right now it offers security for their longevity.

Have you ever seen a tree that creates a canopy for a smaller tree underneath it? The canopy blocks some of the harsh rays that may burn the fragile new tree while it establishes itself. Eventually, the young trees won’t need a canopy and will barely notice the harsh rays, right now the protection allows them to flourish.

Have you ever seen a tree that allows other trees to grow underneath it? While you may not notice it with your eyes, the larger tree is offering nourishment underground to the smaller trees. Eventually, the smaller trees won’t need that nutrition, currently it offers them support to grow.

One thing worth noting is that the large tree never flaunts the support that it offers. It just stands there strong, tall, solid, relentlessly offering support. The tree never needs to be told how great it is, it just is.

The next time you see a large tree offering to support your growth, lean in…… you may even want to hug that tree!
