There is something about getting to watch someone understand themselves more deeply that absolutely lights my world on fire. It is my truth, that we are all here on a healing and growing journey. The deeper
we get into our own soul the more healing and growth we experience.
Getting to hold a mirror for someone or simply hold space for them while they process their emotions and sink deeper into themselves is impressive. Almost always in the moment where the person has this realization, I am doing next to nothing. I am creating space where the individual feels safe enough to explore themselves and go deeper into themselves. I just get to watch as I hold space. It isn’t my journey, it is their journey. It isn’t my work, it is their work. It isn’t my healing, it is their healing.
I get to stand, literally because I present and coach better when standing, and hold space. Often, I am saying nothing at this point. The individual is speaking and processing their emotions, their behaviors, their wounds, their healing. Sometimes, I am drumming around them if it is at a workshop. Sometimes, I am looking at them through a screen on zoom. Sometimes, I am standing in the grass looking at them. Sometimes, we are sitting at a table together. Almost always, it is my favorite part of my session with them. It is a moment in time but it is almost always obvious and profound. Sometimes, people are unable to control their emotions and allow them to flow freely and sometimes people sit in utter shock as the words flow freely. It doesn’t really matter what it looks like, it is beautiful and it is deep and it is wildly impressive.
So, while I am standing and calmly holding space, know that inside I am jumping up and down and screaming “fuck yes! Yes yes yes! You fucking go” inside. For those of you who have trusted me to hold this space for you, thank you. I don’t know that you understand how much I appreciate you being vulnerable and allowing me to be part of you exploring yourself on a deeper level. Thank you!
