The Magick of the In-Between

I have always loved the liminal spaces.

The places where one thing meets another.

The places where the edges soften.

The places where we are no longer fully where we were, but we have not yet arrived at where we are going.

I have always been drawn to the space between morning and night.

The first moments before sunrise when the world feels suspended.

The last moments of daylight when the sun kisses the horizon before surrendering to the darkness.

The edge of where a field meets the forest.

The shoreline where water and land meet.

The places where two worlds touch.

There is something sacred about these spaces.

Maybe because they remind us that life is not actually made of clear beginnings and endings.

Life is constantly moving through thresholds.

We are always releasing.

Always becoming.

Always standing somewhere between who we were and who we are becoming.

And yet, these are often the spaces we try to rush through.

We want the answer.

The clarity.

The next step.

We want to know what happens after the transformation before we have allowed ourselves to fully experience the transformation itself.

But the liminal spaces ask something different of us.

They ask us to slow down.

To listen.

To become present.

I believe this is where we find magick.

Not only in the extraordinary moments.

Not only in ceremony.

Not only in the moments where something dramatic shifts.

But in the quiet moments that are easy to overlook.

The morning light entering a room.

The feeling of warm coffee between your hands.

The animal that appears at exactly the right moment.

The sensation in your body that tells you something before your mind has words for it.

The unexpected moment of knowing.

The subtle whisper from Spirit that says:

"Pay attention."

I think so many of us miss these moments because we are moving too quickly.

We are searching for the big sign.

The undeniable message.

The moment that proves we are on the right path.

But what if life is always speaking?

What if the invitation is not to ask life to become louder?

What if the invitation is for us to become quieter?

When we slow down, we begin to notice.

We notice the way the light changes.

We notice the messages hidden in ordinary moments.

We notice the wisdom of our own bodies.

We notice the places where life is gently guiding us.

The magick was never absent.

We simply became too busy to witness it.

The liminal spaces remind us that becoming is a process.

A flower does not rush open.

The sunrise does not hurry the night away.

The seasons do not force each other to change.

Everything unfolds in its own sacred timing.

Maybe we are not behind.

Maybe we are not lost.

Maybe we are simply standing in a threshold.

A place where something old is completing and something new is beginning.

A place where we are being invited to listen.

To soften.

To trust.

The places between are not empty spaces.

They are sacred spaces.

They are where transformation happens.

They are where we meet ourselves.

And perhaps...

they are where we find the magick that was there all along.

Reflection

What threshold are you currently standing in?

What is asking to be released?

What is beginning to emerge?

Where might life already be speaking to you, if only you slowed down enough to listen?
